This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things

This is the last clump of zebra grass in the pool area. It is the only one that survived Sugar's terrible twos. My sister in law had given us several clumps to plant about 3 years ago and we happily planted it, prepared to wait for some glorious landscaping. Well Sugar had other ideas and over the course of about 2 weeks systematically ripped it out and had great fun with it. One clump survived, it clung to life and remained sparse and thin for years. This year it actually seemed to be getting full, perhaps that glorious landscaping could still happen.

I'm not sure what fantasy world we were living in, but we had hope. I mean Chuckie was insistant that we get a girl pup because he didn't want a boy peeing on all the bushes and killing them the way Teddy did. Once we bought 12 boxwood shrubs, Teddy managed to kill all but one. But LeeLoo is a girl, we can still make things pretty. What a laugh. For some reason zebra grass seems to effect dogs like catnip does to cats.

She has been working on it for like 3 days, ripping and trampling. She leaps on it. She bites it. She wrestles it. She's killing it. I know I should and could stop her from doing it, but the entertainment value it provides for both myself and LeeLoo is worth having crappy landscaping. So as I'm laughing at her antics, I realize this is why we can't have nice things and you know what, I really don't mind.
